2008 “Relay for Life” Lancefield Motorcycle Poker Run
It was a very successful and enjoyable day. Although the weather threatened us early in the morning it turned out to be a very pleasant day, a great day for a Motorbike ride. Close to 70 Motorcycles, half a dozen cars and a Hot Rod turned up to support this wonderful event and a fantastic day was had by all.
We headed off east at 11 o’clock towards Kilmore, going north through Tooborac, Heathcote before turning left at Axedale and stopping at Lake Eppalock near Kimbolton for a sausage sizzle lunch and some light refreshments and entertainment. We then headed off for a brief stop at the Redesdale Tavern, another at Mt Macedon and then a ride and quick stop at Romsey before arriving back in Lancefield at 4 o’clock. If you were lucky enough you would have seen the great spectacular of all the bikes lined up and riding two abreast between Romsey and Lancefield an impressive sight indeed. Thank you to all who participated and helped make this such a wonderful experience.
There were many great prizes given away for the best Poker Hands and lucky draws too. After a wonderful Spit roast tea a live band (After Burn) was playing at Old Mack’s Hotel in Lancefield where many stayed on and topped off a great day bopping away to the fantastic music being played, all in all a great effort from all involved we raised over $4000.00 Dollars with all proceeds going to Relay for Life and the Cancer Council of Victoria.
On Behalf of the Lancefield/ Macedon Ranges Relay for Life team the ‘Shooting Stars’ we would like to thank all the bike riders who participated, the very generous local business and community minded people who sponsored and donated prizes and all the volunteers who helped on the day. This unique fund raising event would not have been such a great success without your support, we nod our helmut to you.

Relay for Life is one of the biggest simultaneous cancer fund raising events around the world. Relay for life is the Cancer Councils biggest annual fund raiser.
