Ride Info
Hello and Welcome
Welcome to the official website of the Lancefield Motorcycle Poker Run Inc. It’s on again and we would like to take this opportunity to invite you all to ride with us on,
Saturday February 20 2010
This time we are riding to help FREE SHEREE. 15 yo Sheree was born with a rare pyhsical disability ”Arthrogryposis Multiplex Congentia”. A disease that affects the joints of the body causing seizure or limitation of movements. Sheree has endured 22 operations for corrective surgery and still requires more on-going treatment. Until recently Sheree was confined to a wheel chair and with surgery and treatment to her legs is now able to walk, but she is still heavily reliant on her parents for assistance for day to day exsistence, things you and I normally take for granted. Now Sheree would like to FREE her arms and become more independent. Sheree’s dream is ” I would like to be normal and do things for myself without the help of other people. I get frustrated with myself and the way people stare at the way I appear. I want to have the use of my arms so I can do things that other normal people can do”.
Lets all ride together to FREE SHEREE and help her realise her goals in life. For more detailed information on this disease refer to the Arthrogryposis website www.taag.org.au
The Lancefield Motorcycle Poker Run Inc. Is a social group of community minded people who love to ride their motorbikes. We want to share our enthusiasim for riding motorbikes with other bike riders no matter what there age, skill level or type of motorbike. We have combined this love of riding with raising money for worthwhile children’s causes. The previous 2 Poker Run rides have raised nearly $24,000 dollars for children’s cancer research with money being donated to the Cancer Council of Victoria via Lancefield/ Macedon Ranges Relay for Life.
2010 “FREE SHEREE” Lancefield Motorcycle Poker Run
This year we have made a few changes, hopefully for the better and comfort for all those participating. One of the first changes is donations/monies raised will directly benefit a young girl in need of our help. Secondly is a change of start and finish venue, with ever increasing numbers we needed to find a larger area that was able to accommodate 300 plus bikes and riders in a safe environment. So please take note the new Start/Finish is at Lancefield Park Recreation Reserve Chauncey Street, Lancefield. Third change is that for those wanting to stay the night you will be able to camp the night at Lancefield Park for free, just bring your camping gear. Other accommodation is available in the local area, but i would suggest booking in advance.

Bob’s family have graciously agreed to us honouring Bob in this small but significant way. More information is available on the links on this website. I’m sure most of us know of someone, family or friend who has been taken from us prematurely as a result of a motorbike accident. Let this be a sober reminder to us all about how fragile life can be and the inherent risk we take each time we ride our motorbikes. We all need to take responsibility for safe riding practices which not only includes how we ride but wearing the correct safety gear of Helmut, boots, jackets, pants and gloves, which will greatly help reduce the risk of serious injury should you be involved in an accident. The Lancefield Motorcycle Poker Run Inc. committeee strongly encourages responsibile and safe riding practices and asks all those participating in the Lancefield Motorcycle Poker Run to do the same. As a way to highlight safe riding during this years ride we will be awarding the “Robert Gibb” safe riding trophy. This will not be any old run of the mill trophy but will be a one off, uniquely crafted/sculpted by one of our very talented sponsors ”Diamond in the Rust” refer to our sponsors link on ths website.
A friendly reminder to all those participating or considering coming along THIS IS NOT A RACE, it is a social ride with family and friends to raise money for a good cause. As responsible riders we need to acknowledge that riders of all ages and differing levels of riding experience/skills will be participating. With that in mind you need to be aware that reckless, irresponsilbe, show boating, illegal or unsafe riding WILL NOT BE TOLERATED under any circumstances. This is a controlled event with experienced riders leading the ride. All those participating need to be licenced to ride and be riding a legally registered and roadworthty motorcycle and must follow all Victorian road rules and regulations. We ask that all riders participating to respect these conditions and fellow riders and enjoy the day so we can all return safely home to our families.
WE encourage everyone to stay after the ride and join in the fun and enjoy the atmosphere and entertainment. Prizes, mystery wheelbarrow raffle and entertaining auction. We will be putting on a succulent spit roast and salad dinner with live band for your enjoyment. The local Lancefield Cricket club has kindly offered it services and club rooms for us to operate of and will be selling refreshments on-site until 10:00 pm.
